She opened the door that led to the basement and motioned for me to descend. I could hear the sound of women’s voices downstairs. When I stepped down into basement, I saw the sources of those voices. There was a hideous looking woman with several long deep scars that ran across her face; all perfectly straight lines, all evenly spaced. She was short, bald-headed and heavy wearing a white t-shirt and jeans. Standing next to her was a tall red-head. The red-head wore a long leather coat, a black and red plaid skirt, black stockings, knee-high boots and a black and red sweater. There was an exceptionally beautiful Native American woman with long black hair. The Native woman was dressed simple in a black hoodie and jeans. There was a table with restraints.

The three women looked me up and down in my spandex biker shorts with florescent pink tank-top and fell all over each other laughing. Lavinia and Lenore stood behind me. When the three women finally stopped laughing, the Native woman said, “Stop! Hamma time” and the three began laughing hysterically again.

Lavinia and Lenore remained straight-faced and serious. Lavinia whispered in my ear, “Take that shit off and lay down on the table.” I stripped off the clothing then I slowly, and reluctantly, got on the table and laid down. My wrists and ankles were put in restraints. I stared at a wood beam in the ceiling. Lavinia appeared at my side and announced to the three women, “He lied to Aunt Antonija about why ------- was upset when she came here tonight. He refuses to tell her what happened tonight, and we know that something must have happened.” She looked me in the eyes, “Clarence, what happened earlier tonight? What went wrong?”

My lips didn’t move. She said, “I have to go do something real quick. Soften him up. I’ll be back in a few minutes.” She lowered her face to inches in front of mine, “You might want to consider having an answer for me by the time I get back.” She went up the stairs followed by Lenore. I was left alone, in restraints, naked and spread eagle on a table with three strange women who had orders to “soften him up”.

The red-head removed her jacket and opened a cupboard on the wall behind her. She told the scar-faced woman to hold my head, then pulled a pair of pliers and a piece of plastic out of the cupboard. The piece of plastic was about the size of an Uno card, but thicker. She pinched my nostrils shut, pried my mouth open and jammed the piece of plastic in my mouth so that my mouth was held open painfully wide. My back arched, every muscle in my body seemed to knot up, it was like a star exploded inside my consciousness sending screaming white heat through my veins, electrifying every nerve in body. That was how it felt when she was pulling one of my bottom teeth out with the pliers. She jerked the piece of plastic out of my mouth. I shouted out in pain, spitting blood and squirming. The red-head grabbed my face and shouted, “Tell me what happened tonight.” She punched me in the face, rocking my head to the side. I saw blood splatter on the wall beside me. She grabbed my face again, “Tell me what happened or I’m gonna fuck you up!”

The red-head stomped away to a dark corner of the basement. She emerged from the darkness with a large plug-in lamp. She set it on the floor, pulled a knife from under her sweater and cut the cord on the lamp. She put her knife away and wrapped the cut end of the cord around her fist. The plug end swayed menacingly as she walked toward me. My intense fear kept my adrenaline high, the hole in my mouth became a secondary concern. The red-head was not playing games.

“What happened tonight?” I didn’t answer. She whipped me across the chest with the cord. I felt the hot blood run down my side. “”What happened? Did she kill someone, huh?” The cord slashed my chest again. I screamed out in pain. The red-head wrapped the cord around my neck and started strangling me . My eyes felt like they were going to explode out of their sockets, the panic was like a bobcat trying to claw its way out of my chest. Finally, she stopped and took the cord off my neck. She screamed in my face, “TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED YOU PIECE OF SHIT!” Lightning shot through my body again. The red-head was pinching my scrotum with the pliers. I tried to scream again but no sound would come out. The red-head said, “Fuck this” and put the pliers down. She picked up the cord, split it up the middle, pulled out her knife and began to cut the plastic off the ends of the cord to expose the wire. “I’m gonna try something new. Atrese, go get me an extension cord.” The scar-faced woman disappeared into the darkness behind the stairs.

“If you don’t tell me what happened, I’m gonna plug you into the fuckin’ wall and watch you piss and shit all over the place as you’re being electrocuted. Now tell me what happened.” I heard the door open at the top of the stairs. The red-head dropped the cord and stepped away from the table. Lavinia and Lenore came down the stairs, stopped and stood staring at me. Lavinia shouted at the women, “I said soften him up. What did you do to his face?” Lavinia stood over me at my side. She opened my mouth and looked in. “Who the fuck pulled his tooth out? Huh? Where’s Atrese?” The scar-faced woman came from behind the stairs.

Lavinia gave me a look of genuine concern and asked, “Who pulled your tooth out? Tell me so she can be punished.” I didn’t say anything. “Clarence, tell me who pulled your tooth out.” She looked up at the three women and shouted, “What did you do to his chest?” She saw the cord on the floor, picked it up and examined the ends. She held the cord up to my face, “Look at this Clarence. That’s who you’re protecting by not telling me. They were going to electrocute you. Now tell me which one did it. Was it all of them?”

I stared at the ceiling and remained silent. Lavinia became angry. She picked up the pliers and held them to my face, “Tell me who did this to you and I will put them on this table and let you get your revenge however you want. But if you keep playing this fucking game with me, I’m going to make you feel a fuck of lot worse than you’re feeling right now.”

I stuck to my line and stared at the ceiling. Lavinia grabbed my right foot and ripped the toenail off my big toe off with the pliers. I screamed and cussed and shouted. Lavinia circled the table, “You really are a stupid motherfucker, you know that Clarence. You’re going to make me torture you, because you want to protect a woman who tortured you and was about to kill you. Or do you just like being tortured Clarence?” I shook my head. “No. You don’t like to be tortured Clarence? Then why don’t you answer my questions?”

“Get me a scalpel out of that cupboard,” Lavinaia demanded. The Native woman pulled a scalpel from the cupboard and handed it to Lavinia, “Cover his eyes.” The Native woman covered my eyes with a blindfold. I felt a sharp, cold pain draw a line down the center of my scrotum. I shouted with one long roaring breath, I felt like the veins in my neck and head were going to explode. I heard a voice say, “Holy shit, look at his testicles hanging out of his ball sack. Then I heard Lavinia’s voice, “Clarence, I just sliced your scrotum right down the middle. Now, we can fix this. But if you don’t tell me what I want to know right now, I’m going to cut those cords attached your nuts, throw them on the floor and crush them underneath my boot heel. What’s it going to be Clarence?”

At that point, I wouldn’t have been able to answer her if I wanted to. I heard someone say, “I did it. I pulled his tooth out.” Lavinia said, “It took you long enough. I almost had to cut off the guys balls.” The blindfold was removed, but I didn’t want to see. Lavinia whispered in my ear, “Good job Clarence. But next time I ask you something, I will mean it.” She walked away and went up the stairs.

The red-head and Lenore undid my restraints. I still laid flat on my back, terrified to see my mutilated genitals. The red-head sat me up, I took a deep breath and looked down. There wasn’t any blood down there, I grabbed my balls and inspected my scrotum. The only mark was from being pinched with the pliers. Atrese appeared at my side with a black robe. Then the three women went up the stairs, leaving me alone with Lenore.

She walked over and helped me off the table. Pain shot all the way up my body from my big toe to my head when I put weight on my right foot. Lenore offered me a cigarette which I gladly accepted. She held the lighter out for me, then lit her own, “Congratulations Clarence. You survived your first test.”

“I thought you were supposed to be watching out for me.”

She shrugged her shoulders, “You were going to get tortured tonight regardless. There was nothing you or I could have done to prevent it.”

“What now?

“Now I’ll take you upstairs, you can wash yourself and I’ll tend to your wounds. Then I’ll show you to your room and you can get some rest. You’re the only dick-and-balls in the hall right now. You can expect to be put through a lot. And you can expect to have at least one person that will try to sabotage and destroy you. Lay low and keep your mouth shut. One more thing, stay away from Black Sally.”

“Why do they call her Black Sally? Is she dark?”

“She’s no darker than me. The word ’Black’ refers to her heart. Stay as far away from her as you can. Trust me, it‘s in your best interest. Let’s go get you cleaned up.”
